Blair, SC – The McCrorey-Liston Alumni Association is set to host a reunion event on Saturday, May 24, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. at Willie Lee Robinson Park. This special gathering aims to reconnect former students and celebrate the significant legacy of McCrorey-Liston School through laughter, shared memories, rekindled friendships, food, and music.

The association’s primary objective is to foster connections among former students, support the community, assist current students in their educational journey, and highlight the school’s rich history that has played a vital role in the lives of many alumni.

Those interested in attending the reunion or seeking more information can reach out to the organizing committee members: Johnnie McDuffie at (803) 605-4166, Sherri Thompson at (803) 374-0567, or Beverly Henderson at (803) 801-9519.

Willie Lee Robinson Park, where the reunion will take place, is located at 17460 Newberry Road in Blair, SC, providing a suitable venue for bringing together alumni from different classes.

On May 27 of this year, approximately 200 alumni from the classes of 1961 to 1986 gathered at the same park for a tailgate reunion. Despite facing rain and inclement weather, attendees showed their dedication by setting up tents and preparing refreshments for their respective classes. A special cookout was organized for alumni from classes 1954 to 1965, hosted by Willie P. Coleman and family at the park pavilion, further solidifying the community spirit among the attendees.

At this recent gathering, Johnnie McDuffie, the newly appointed chairman of the McCrorey-Liston Alumni Association, announced plans for the Grand Reunion celebrating the 70th Anniversary of McCrorey-Liston School. This milestone event is scheduled to occur over Memorial Day weekend in 2024, providing an opportunity for alumni to commemorate their shared history and strengthen connections with former classmates.

In preparation for this significant event, an initial planning committee meeting for the Grand Reunion will take place on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Little River Presbyterian Church, starting at 3:00 p.m. All alumni are encouraged to attend this meeting, bring their ideas, and express their dedication towards making the Grand Reunion a successful and memorable occasion.

The McCrorey-Liston School has played an essential role in the educational landscape of the Blair community, nurturing generations of students. The efforts of the McCrorey-Liston Alumni Association to maintain these connections reflect the enduring bonds formed during school years. By organizing events such as the upcoming reunion, the association underscores the importance of community, alumni engagement, and support for current students, fostering a legacy that continues to resonate within the community.
