Born on May 13, 1937, in Newberry, SC, Mary Jo was the daughter of the late Mary and Joe Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Clifton (Bud) Holsonback. The couple shared a long and committed marriage of 55 years.
Mary Jo spent over 60 years of her life in Joanna before later moving to Langston Square and finally to National Health Care in Clinton. Throughout her life, she was an active member of Joanna Baptist Church, demonstrating a strong faith that shaped her relationships and community involvement.
In her professional life, Mary Jo was known for her compassion and kindness as the cafeteria manager at Joanna-Woodson Elementary School. Her dedication to the students and staff made a lasting impression on the community.
Mary Jo is survived by her three children: Billy Holsonback (Michelle), Cindy Jacobs (Jimmy), and Tommy Holsonback (Lori), all residing in Clinton, SC. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Cliff Holsonback (Lindsay), Jennifer Holsonback, Jessica Jacobs, Jordan Holsonback (Avery), Ashley Jacobs, and Alex Holsonback (Marielena). Additionally, she was a proud great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren and is survived by her sister Doris Whitmire of Joanna, along with several nieces and nephews.

The funeral services for Mary Jo Holsonback are scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton, starting at 3:00 PM. The service will be officiated by Rev. Austin Williams and Mr. Buddy Bridges. Friends and family are welcome to visit and offer their condolences from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
