MINNETONKA, MN – The high school football playoffs continued this Thursday with exciting semifinals across various classes at U.S. Bank Stadium. In Class 6A, Minnetonka faced off against Anoka, securing a 48-27 victory. Quarterback Caleb Francois had a standout performance, rushing for 283 yards and scoring five touchdowns, highlighting his team’s offensive strength.
Over in Class 4A, Becker advanced to the finals by taking down Marshall with a 28-7 win. The victory keeps Becker’s championship hopes alive as they prepare for the upcoming matchup.
In the 9-man semifinals, Fertile-Beltrami impressed with a decisive 60-33 win over LeRoy-Ostrander. Hills-Beaver Creek also secured their place in the finals by narrowly defeating Mtn. Iron-Buhl with a score of 26-20.
The traditional hockey battles also took place, showcasing intense competition. In the girls’ Mississippi 8, Chisago Lakes bested Northern Tier with a 6-4 score. The Northwest Suburban league saw Blaine dominate Elk River, finishing at 4-1.
From the South Suburban league, Prior Lake delivered a strong performance against Eagan, shutting them out with a 4-0 win. In other notable matchups, Edina took on Rogers and won 8-0, while Maple Grove defeated Benilde-St. Margaret’s 3-0.
As the playoffs proceed, teams will now set their sights on the finals, hoping to secure championships in both football and hockey. The energy in the air is palpable as student-athletes continue to chase their dreams of victory.
