High School Football Playoff Highlights: Arizona Teams Battle for Semifinal Spots

Arizona High School Football Playoffs Update

This past weekend in Arizona, football action heated up as the Open Division and 6A, 5A, and 4A playoffs took center stage. Teams fought hard to secure their spots in the semifinals, with thrilling matches on both Friday and Saturday.

In the Open Division quarterfinals, Hamilton defeated Marana with a final score of 31-22. Liberty showcased a powerful performance against Higley, winning convincingly 64-26. In a close match, ALA Queen Creek pulled through, beating Desert Mountain 20-14, while Basha triumphed over Horizon, finishing at 36-14.

Moving on to the 6A quarterfinals, Brophy won against Perry 31-13, and Mesa Mountain View dominated Salpointe Catholic with a score of 41-10. Centennial also had a solid victory over Casteel, winning 37-14, with Queen Creek securing a victory against Pinnacle, finishing 37-28.

In the 5A quarterfinals, ALA Gilbert North showed strength, defeating Campo Verde 42-7. Cactus overcame Raymond S. Kellis 21-6, while Verrado faced Buena and came out on top 41-26. Desert Edge rounded out the 5A quarterfinal results with a win against Tucson, finishing 30-14.

In the 4A quarterfinals, Yuma Catholic emerged victorious over Walden Grove 28-13. Mica Mountain dominated Thunderbird 38-14, and Snowflake won decisively against Prescott with a score of 49-13. Arizona College Prep also had a strong showing, defeating Arcadia 35-14.

Looking ahead, the 3A semifinals will take place at Mesa High, featuring Pusch Ridge battling Benjamin Franklin at 6 p.m. and Thatcher facing ALA West Foothills at 2 p.m. Meanwhile, the 2A semifinals at Westwood High will include Scottsdale Christian versus San Tan Charter at 6 p.m. and Pima against Tonopah Valley at 2 p.m.
