High School Basketball Results From Pittsburgh
On Sunday, the Geneva College/Lincoln Park tournament took place at Lincoln Park, resulting in some exciting matchups for high school basketball fans. In the boy’s bracket, Lincoln Park pulled off a convincing victory against Ambridge, ending the game at Lincoln Park 53, Ambridge 22. Meanwhile, the Neighborhood Academy defeated Bishop Canevin with a score of 62-31. Additionally, Obama Academy managed to edge out West Allegheny in a closely contested game, winning 52-49.
On the girl’s side, it was also an eventful day. Altoona faced off against North Allegheny, coming away with a solid 57-41 victory. The Lincoln Park girls team won a nail-biter against Beaver Falls, with a final score of 41-39. Other results featured Blackhawk defeating Latrobe 71-57 and South Fayette dominating Greensburg Central Catholic with a score of 58-29.
As for the upcoming week, the WPIAL Rettger tournament is set to begin on Monday at Franklin Regional. The schedule features exciting matchups, including Aquinas Academy vs. Avonworth at 6 p.m. and Seneca Valley taking on Franklin Regional at 7:30 p.m. Other notable nonsection games include Allderdice visiting Montour, and Canon-McMillan facing Peters Township.
The action isn’t just limited to basketball. The football playoffs are also in full swing, with various championship games scheduled this week at Cumberland Valley. The Class 6A Championship on Saturday features St. Joseph’s Prep against Central Catholic.
