Vermont High School Fall Sports Season Kicks Off

This week marks the beginning of the 2024 Vermont high school fall sports season, and teams across the state have been busy competing on the field. Here’s a quick roundup of the latest scores and highlights from soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and cross-country running.

In boys soccer, Richford secured a narrow win against Paine Mountain with a score of 4-3. Burlington triumphed over Mount Mansfield 2-1, driven by goals from Shedrick Bishula and Quinn Sessions. Mount Mansfield’s Raphael Campanile managed to find the net with a second-half equalizer.

The match between South Burlington and Essex ended in a draw, 0-0, with both teams showing solid defense. South Burlington’s Will Goyette made four saves, while Essex’s Cam Stultz was even busier, racking up 12 saves.

In another competitive game, Harwood shut out U-32 with a score of 3-0. Goals came from Eamon Langlais, Brycen Scharf, and Dylan Rogers, showcasing a solid team effort. On the other hand, Missisquoi defeated Vergennes 3-1, turning around a previous loss against them.

Also noteworthy is the performance of Rice High School, who defeated Middlebury 4-0 in their season opener. Sharmarke Hassan was among the scorers, highlighting the team’s strong attack.
