APPLETON – The Lightning had a strong night as they defeated the Spartans in a convincing sweep, taking all three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-18. After the match, Appleton North coach Steve Scheuerell praised his team’s performance, noting, “Our girls played well tonight and served well.” Key contributors included Chloe North, who recorded five digs and five aces, and Lydia Koshuta, with 10 assists and four aces. Hannah Moua provided six assists and five aces, while Teegan Charapata led with 10 kills and three aces.
In another match, the Ghosts of Hortonville started strong and went on to secure a win over the Polar Bears with scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-21. The standout player for Kaukauna was Madison Tripp, who delivered 24 assists and five aces. Other players like Brenna Matthies contributed three aces and eight digs, while Hailey Kobussen and Claire Gerrits combined for 19 kills.
In a tight match, the Wildcats battled against the Papermakers and came out victorious in a five-set thriller. The final scores were 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 30-28, and 15-12. Coach Carrie Raminger expressed pride in both teams for their effort. Ava Van Camp was a defensive rock with 30 digs, while Emma Tesch provided 32 assists.
Over in Fox Crossing, the Zephyrs managed a comeback win against the Panthers, winning 23-25, 27-25, 25-19, and 25-8. For St. Mary Catholic, Ava Rankin led with 11 digs, and Sami Weiss contributed 19 assists.
In cross country news, the girls’ teams saw strong performances with the top runners from Appleton North leading the way. Sophia Scherwinski clocked in first with a time of 19:37.3. The boys’ race featured Ian Willemsen from Sheboygan North, who finished first with a time of 17:21.2.
