Niche.com has recognized USC Sumter as the number one institution on its 2027 list of Best Community Colleges in South Carolina. This achievement, according to USC Sumter Campus Dean Eric Reisenauer, highlights the strength of their students, the dedication of their faculty and staff, and the support from the Sumter community. Reisenauer noted that USC Sumter has a history of transforming lives through accessible, high-quality education and remains committed to student success.
All four of the University of South Carolina’s regional Palmetto College campuses received recognition on the Niche.com list. USC Lancaster was ranked third, USC Salkehatchie fourth, and USC Union sixth. University of South Carolina President Michael Amiridis stated that this year’s Niche rankings demonstrate the exceptional work occurring across the Palmetto College campuses. These four two-year regional Palmetto College campuses collectively serve nearly 5,000 students.
Beyond academics, USC Sumter functions as a cultural and educational center for its region through various initiatives and partnerships that aim to strengthen the local community. An example of this engagement is USC Sumter hosting Swan Con, Sumter’s annual comic arts festival, on its campus.
