Penn Yan Academy Faces Tough Loss in High School Basketball Matchup Against Waterloo

High School Sports Roundup: Waterloo Takes Victory Over Penn Yan Academy

Waterloo, NY – In an action-packed evening at Penn Yan Academy on Wednesday night, the Waterloo boys’ basketball team triumphed over their hosts with a score of 60-47. The game was marked by impressive teamwork and strong offensive plays from both sides.

Leading the way for Waterloo was senior guard Brandon Lee, who contributed 12 points alongside his teammate Hayden Willett, who matched him with another 12 points. Other key players included Cameron Jacobs and Dylan Caraballo, both adding 10 points to the scoreboard. Carter Peterson also chimed in effectively with 10 points, providing depth to the team’s performance.

On the Penn Yan side, senior guard Anthony Condella led all scorers with a notable 22 points, demonstrating his skill throughout the match. He was supported by Matthew Tones, who added 11 points. Despite their strong efforts, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Waterloo offense.

The weather on Wednesday night added to the challenge of the game, with variable cloudiness and light snow showers leading up to the match. Temperatures hovered in the low 30s, while gusty winds from the west created less than ideal playing conditions. However, both teams showed great resilience despite the weather.

This win brings Waterloo’s season record to 3-0, while Penn Yan Academy looks to bounce back with hopes of securing their first win against Haverling on December 6.

Meanwhile, in other action around Wayne County, the non-league games featured Lyons dominating Marion with an overwhelming score of 105-17. Players like Jamire Johnson and Trell Parker stepped up, scoring 22 and 17 points respectively. This puts Lyons at 1-0 as they prepare to host North Rose-Wolcott on December 11.
