High School Football Action Heats Up in Baltimore: Quarterfinals on the Horizon

High School Sports Roundup: Tuesday, Oct. 29

Food and Jersey City went head-to-head in a thrilling round of high school varsity action on Tuesday, Oct. 29, showcasing some exciting talent across various sports.

In what was a commanding performance, Sparrows Point defeated Patapsco with an impressive score of 11-0. The defending Class 2A state champions proved their dominance in this North Region I final. Key players included Reaghan Wheeler and Kylie Stambaugh, both netting two goals each. Additional goals came from Madyson Costello, Ami Walters, Allysa Hartman, Lilah Kern, Lilly Parks, Gianna Orsino, and Allison Crowe.

In another exciting game, the Bel Air Bobcats edged past Poly with a close 1-0 victory. The game-winning goal was scored by Ally Mace in overtime, assisted by Alyssa Foote. Emmy Schiller made two saves, earning a crucial shutout for Bel Air.

Harford Tech also made headlines by defeating Patterson Mill 4-0 in the 1A North Region II championship. Ashley Shelton shined with two goals, while Abby Downes contributed a goal and an assist.

C. Milton Wright secured a tight 1-0 victory over Rising Sun with Mackenzi Milich scoring the sole goal thanks to an assist from Delainey Proctor. The team’s defense, led by goalkeeper Alix Bramble, held strong throughout the match.

The Liberty Lions triumphed over South Carroll with a close 2-1 finish to claim the 1A North Region I championship. Goals from Aver Asom and Bryce Sarver were pivotal in their victory, while Mady Smith made seven critical saves in goal.

Additionally, Century played exceptionally well, winning 1-0 against Middletown. A late goal from Lexi McGinnis was assisted by Lenah Ham, helping Century achieve yet another win.

In boys’ action, Perry Hall faced off against Kenwood, securing an early lead with two goals in the first eight minutes. Jacob Bondyra and Parker Newman scored for Perry Hall, sealing a 2-1 victory.

Overall, it was an action-packed evening in high school sports, showcasing the talent and competitive spirit of student-athletes. Fans eagerly look forward to the upcoming matches and challenges as the season continues.
