Firefighters Respond to School Incident
A significant fire in a bathroom at William S. Sandel Elementary School led to students being dismissed for the remainder of the day. Fire crews responded to the school, located at 2700 Seminole Road, shortly after 7:30 a.m. The fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.
Despite the rapid response, the bathroom sustained heavy damage. The Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The school, which serves 472 students, is situated off Broad River Road, near Columbia High School in the St. Andrews area.
