WASHINGTON — Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Eastern on ESPNU as ranked South Carolina State brings its perfect conference start into Greene Stadium for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference date with Howard.
The Bulldogs sit at 7-2 and 2-0 under third-year coach Chennis Berry. They are coming off a 51-10 win at Morgan State and have piled up a 73-17 scoring edge across their first two MEAC games.
Howard is 4-5 and 1-1 after a shutout loss to North Carolina Central. The Bison earlier beat Morgan State 26-20 in league play. Series history favors Orangeburg: SC State leads 40-12 all-time and has taken five of the past six meetings.
South Carolina State averages 42 points and about 451 yards of offense while holding foes to roughly 17 points and 236 yards. Graduate quarterback Keely Watson has 1,647 passing yards and 15 touchdowns, including a 279-yard, four-score night against Morgan State.
Sophomore back Mason Pickett-Hicks has 793 rushing yards and seven rushing scores. Howard counters with quarterback Ja’Shawn Scroggins (1,092 passing yards), running back Eden James and receiver Semaj Pierre.
Victory would push the Bulldogs to 3-0 in the MEAC. Both clubs finish the regular season on Nov. 14: the Bulldogs visit North Carolina Central, and the Bison welcome Delaware State at home.
