NEWBERRY, S.C. — Mid-Carolina kept its perfect season intact Friday night, beating county rival Newberry 43-14 to move to 10-0.

The Rebels came into the Week 11 matchup at 9-0 after a 37-28 win over Keenan. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 4-6. Newberry had won its previous game, 28-23 over Chester, scoring in all four quarters.

In Whitmire, the Wolverines lost 50-22 to Eau Claire and fell to 3-7. Whitmire was coming off a 63-6 loss to Batesburg-Leesville and is still looking for its first conference win. Eau Claire, which arrived at 4-5, evened its record at 5-5.

The result leaves the Rebels unbeaten through 10 games, while Newberry and Whitmire both sit below .500 for the season.

In the private-school ranks, Newberry Academy went into the weekend at 5-4 after a 34-28 loss to unbeaten Laurens Academy, with a home date against Cambridge on the schedule.
