CHAPPELLS, S.C. — Newberry County deputies are asking for help finding Edwin Geer, 87, of Chappells, whose last known sighting was at his Summerset Bay home on Oct. 6.
The search began after a neighbor grew worried over the weekend and called authorities. Geer had not been around, and his mail was piling up uncollected, according to the sheriff’s office.
Geer is also believed to have his vehicle with him. Deputies are looking for a tan 2002 Chevrolet pickup with South Carolina tag XEZ770.
He is described as a white man about 5 feet 5 inches tall and roughly 145 pounds, with white hair that is balding. Given his age and the length of time he has been gone, the sheriff’s office lists him as endangered.
Investigators say even a small detail, such as a sighting of the truck, could help bring him home safely. Anyone who has seen Geer or the pickup, or knows where he may be, should call the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222.
