Gamecocks Draw Against JMU at Stone Stadium
The South Carolina men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against JMU on Sunday at Stone Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. The Gamecocks, with a record of 7-1-1 overall and 1-0-1 in the Sun Belt, faced JMU, whose record stands at 3-4-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Sun Belt.
South Carolina’s third-year forward Loïc Sany Kong scored in the second minute, assisted by first-year midfielder Yoni Perez. JMU’s third-year forward Carlos Cámara Tur found the equalizer in the 52nd minute, with an assist from second-year midfielder Daniel Bunk.
South Carolina’s second-year goalkeeper Noah Scheidweiler made four saves in the first half and six overall during the match. JMU’s fourth-year goalkeeper Erik Jaspers contributed two saves in the second half, helping to maintain the tied score.
Despite being outshot by South Carolina 13-10, JMU held a 7-1 advantage in shots during the initial 45 minutes of play.
