# Newberry Opera House Announces September Performances

The Newberry Opera House has announced a series of musical and dance performances scheduled for September, offering various entertainment options for residents. This includes a performance by T. Graham Brown on September 11, Tuba Skinny on September 13, SPANKthe80s: The Ultimate Tribute on September 17, and SC Ballet: Disco Inferno on September 20.

T. Graham Brown is set to perform at the Newberry Opera House, located at 1201 McKibben St., Newberry, on September 11 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets and additional information are available through the Newberry Opera House website or by contacting the box office at 803-276-6264 during business hours.

Following this, Tuba Skinny will take the stage at the same venue on September 13 at 6 p.m. The Newberry Opera House will also host SPANKthe80s: The Ultimate Tribute on September 17 at 7:30 p.m. The SC Ballet will present Disco Inferno on September 20 at 6 p.m. All performances will be held at the Newberry Opera House, with tickets and information accessible via the venue’s website or box office.

Beyond Newberry, other regional events include an exhibit at the Arts Center of Greenwood, In Water, On Paper, on view through Saturday. From September 4 to October 3, the Arts Center of Greenwood will feature Seam Allowance: Emma Barnes. A gallery talk and art reception with free admission is scheduled for September 10 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Arts Center of Greenwood.

The Salvation Army in Greenwood, located at 222 Pressley St., is offering free basic beginner piano lessons for youths aged 7-14 who can read English. These lessons are held on Mondays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Spaces are limited, and registration is available online.

The Wheels of Time Car Club will host its annual Labor Day Car Show on Court Square in Abbeville on September 5, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For details, individuals can call 864-980-2266. The SC Singing Churchmen are scheduled to perform in concert at Northside Baptist Church in Greenwood, 409 Northside Drive West, on September 10 at 6:45 p.m. Donations collected after the performance will benefit Child Evangelism Fellowship of the Lakelands and Good News Clubs.

The Hodges-Cokesbury Fire Department will host Lights on Main on September 12 at 4410 Main St. in Hodges, commemorating the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honoring first responders. The event will feature live music, food trucks, crafts, children’s activities, and a light and music tribute at 9:11 p.m., with free admission for families.

Ray LaMontagne is scheduled to perform at the Peace Center Concert Hall on September 16 at 7:30 p.m. This performance was rescheduled from a previously postponed date in 2025. Tickets are available through the Peace Center website or by calling the box office at 864-467-3000.

Greenwood Community Theatre will present its inclusive Penguin Project show, Shrek KIDS, from September 17-20. This production pairs young, disabled actors with peer mentors. Tickets can be purchased by calling the GCT box office at 864-229-5704 during business hours, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at 110 Main Street.

The Abbeville Opera House will host Mama Mania! Abba tribute on September 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase online. Foreigner is also scheduled to perform for the band’s 50th anniversary at Bell Auditorium in Augusta, 712 Telfair St., on September 19 at 7:30 p.m., with VIP packages available online.

Greenwood Performing Arts will host the Yacht Rock Spectacular with the Thurston Howell Band at Olde Eight Golf Club in Greenwood on September 24, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets and information are available through the Greenwood Performing Arts website. The Fourth Annual Latin Festival will be held at Uptown Market in Greenwood, 220 Maxwell Ave., on September 26, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., celebrating Hispanic Heritage of the Americas with food, music, vendors, and games.
